Our counselling approach

At R.H Counselling, we offer person-centred and integrated counselling, blending core client-led principles with flexible therapeutic techniques. This ensures a holistic, tailored method that adapts to your specific needs and goals.

Person-centred foundation

We believe you are the expert on your own life. Our focus is on fostering a strong therapeutic relationship, supporting your self-awareness in a non-judgmental space.

Integrated techniques

While maintaining a person-centred core, we draw from modalities like CBT and psychodynamic approaches to address complex or specific issues effectively.

Flexibility & tailoring

Therapy is structured around you, not a diagnosis. We offer a mix of short-term, goal-oriented strategies and deeper exploration of long-standing patterns.

Frequently asked questions

It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.

What does 'integrative' mean?

Integrative counselling brings together different therapeutic approaches so sessions can be tailored to each personBy drawing on tools from CBT, psychodynamic work, humanistic therapy, and relational approaches, it offers a flexible, holistic way of supporting issues like anxiety, low mood, trauma, or relationship difficulties. The aim is simple: to help clients understand themselves more deeply and develop practical, meaningful ways to cope and grow.

What does 'person-centred' mean?

Person‑centred counselling is based on a really straightforward idea: you know yourself better than anyone else. Instead of the counsellor telling you what to do or analysing you from a distance, the focus is on creating a safe, accepting space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

How long can I expect my session to last?

Our sessions last for 50 minutes per session. If you wanted something longer, we are happy to discuss the suitability of this with you on our initial phone call.

How long should I attend counselling for?

It varies. Some people come for a few sessions, others prefer longer‑term work. We review regularly so it always feels right for you.

How much do the sessions cost?

Our sessions cost a base rate of £40 per hour. We also offer a concessionary rate for low income individuals and students. This is something we can further discuss during our initial phone call.
